4. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies

Our WordPress website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, analyze how visitors use the site, and support our marketing efforts. Specifically, we use:

Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies; please note that disabling cookies may affect site functionality. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals.

5. SMS / Text Messaging Program

If you opt in to receive text (SMS) messages from Renaissance Academie — for example, by submitting a form on our website, replying to a message, or providing your phone number during an admissions or appointment process — we may send you informational and promotional messages such as appointment reminders, admissions updates, financial aid follow-ups, class notifications, event invitations, and special offers.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, or get help by replying HELP. Consent to receive marketing text messages is not a condition of enrollment or of receiving any service from Renaissance Academie.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except for aggregators and providers of the Text Message services.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share customer opt-in information with affiliates or third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

a. Mobile Information / SMS Non-Sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

b. Government, Regulatory, and Accrediting Bodies

We share information with federal and state agencies, accrediting bodies, and the Utah Division of Professional Licensing as required to administer financial aid, maintain our authorization to operate, verify clock hours and licensure eligibility, and comply with applicable laws.

c. With Your Consent

We may share information with externship sites, prospective employers, salons, alumni networks, references, parents or guardians, or other parties when you have given us explicit, written permission to do so.

d. Legal Requirements and Safety

We may share information when we believe in good faith that doing so is required by law, by court order or subpoena, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Renaissance Academie, our students, staff, clinic guests, or the public.

e. Business Transfers

If Renaissance Academie is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections. SMS opt-in data and mobile messaging consent records are expressly excluded from any such transfer and will not be shared with any acquiring party for marketing or promotional purposes.

7. Student Education Records (FERPA)

Renaissance Academie complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, which protects the privacy of student education records. Eligible students (generally students 18 years of age or older, or students who attend a postsecondary institution) have the right to:

  • Inspect and review their education records.
  • Request the amendment of education records they believe are inaccurate or misleading.
  • Provide written consent before personally identifiable information from education records is shared with parties other than those permitted by FERPA.
  • File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures to comply with FERPA requirements.

FERPA permits sharing without consent in certain circumstances, including with school officials who have legitimate educational interests, in connection with financial aid, in response to lawful subpoenas, and in health or safety emergencies. We maintain a record of all FERPA-required disclosures.

8. Financial Aid Information (GLBA)

Because we participate in federal financial aid programs, Renaissance Academie is subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) with respect to financial information obtained in connection with financial aid. We maintain appropriate physical, technical, and administrative safeguards appropriate to the size and complexity of our operations.

FAFSA and other federal financial aid information is used solely for the purpose of determining and administering your financial aid and is shared only with the U.S. Department of Education, federal student aid servicers, our financial aid software providers, accrediting and auditing bodies, and other parties as authorized by you or required by law.

9. Students and Visitors Under 18

Some of our cosmetology programs may be open to students under the age of 18, and minors may also visit our website or the student-clinic floor. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our website.

Applicants under the age of 18 may enroll at Renaissance Academie only if they are currently enrolled in high school. Applicants who are not currently enrolled in high school must hold a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent (such as a GED) in order to enroll. Renaissance Academie collects information from applicants who are minors only as necessary to process enrollment, administer financial aid, and comply with state and federal regulatory requirements.

If you are under 18:

  • A parent or legal guardian must co-sign your enrollment agreement and any financial agreements.
  • A parent or legal guardian must provide written consent for clinic services performed on a minor.
  • A parent or legal guardian may review your education records consistent with FERPA and applicable Utah law.

If you believe we have collected information from a child in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, please contact us using the information in Section 14.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information.

a. Utah Consumer Privacy Act

If you are a Utah resident, the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA) provides you with certain rights, subject to verification of your identity and applicable exemptions:

  • The right to confirm whether we are processing your personal data and to access that data.
  • The right to delete personal data you have provided to us.
  • The right to obtain a portable copy of personal data you have provided to us.
  • The right to opt out of the processing of your personal data for purposes of targeted advertising or the sale of personal data.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 14. We will respond within the time period required by law. You may appeal a denial of your request by replying to our response.

b. Communication Preferences

You may opt out of marketing emails by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any marketing email. You may opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect our ability to send you transactional or legally required communications.

c. FERPA Rights

As described in Section 7, students have specific rights with respect to education records under FERPA.

11. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, and destruction. These include access controls, encryption in transit, staff training, vendor due diligence, and physical security measures at our campus and records storage areas. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, to provide our educational services, and to comply with our legal, accreditation, financial aid, tax, and recordkeeping obligations. Student academic and financial records are retained for the periods required by federal financial aid regulations, our accreditor, and the Utah Division of Professional Licensing.

13. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by Renaissance Academie. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of every site you visit.
